Who We Are
Craftproducers is an event and management organization whose philosophy is the customer is always right. Well, almost always. With more than 30 years of experience in creating, owning, managing, promoting, and consulting, Craftproducers enjoys a peerless reputation with its exhibitors and host sites. At Craftproducers core are Charley Dooley and Tim Cianciola. Dooley, the company visionary, has personally organized and orchestrated hundreds of events and festivals since 1973. Cianciola, who joined him as a partner in 2004, brings tremendous financial savvy and marvelous management acumen. Currently they are supported in the office by an associate producer, Amanda Wright. Besides the team of three, Craftproducers employs several skilled subcontractors annually; many of whom have been with Craftproducers for many years.
In 2008 Craftproducers will organize and manage eight art and craft festivals. While these shows are in the northeast - Vermont, New York, and New Jersey - Craftproducers has in the past organized events in Ohio, Florida, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire. Besides art and craft shows, Craftproducers has owned and/ or managed wine and food festivals, vaudeville comedy festivals, food festivals, concerts, and parades.
For the most part all events have been staged outdoors on pristine fields where Craftproducers brings in tents, toilets, trash receptacles, water, and electricity; in short, Craftproducers builds a temporary city and then dismantles it the day after the show closes leaving no footprint of a prior festival. Several festivals have been held at ski resorts, municipal theatres, convention centers, and on downtown streets and parks.
Mission Statement
To organize and manage events and festivals that are enjoyable for patrons and profitable for participants.
Capabilities
ART AND CRAFT SHOWS
Craftproducers has been creating upscale and unique festivals in New York and New England for over 30 years. The shows are known for their high quality and innovation.
Craftproducers maintains very high standards. All “art and craft festivals” are juried, which means that the artists must submit samples of their work to be accepted to the shows. Only bona fide handcrafted work is accepted. No buy-sell is allowed and the artists must be present at the show to represent their work. The public appreciates these high standards.
Craftproducers takes seriously its responsibility to promote the Art and Craft industry, understanding that artists represent a special asset to society and that we are the trustees of this asset. We will only succeed if our artists succeed. We work to educate the public about arts and crafts and to help them understand the unique products that our artists offer.
WINE AND FOOD FESTIVALS
Craftproducers founded the Vermont Wine and Food Festival at Stratton Mountain in 1997. It had a successful run of four years before closing due to a corporate decision about refocusing Stratton’s marketing resources.
Presently, Craftproducers is assisting Santé Magazine in organizing the Tent Day for its third annual Symposium in Manchester, Vermont. Together with Santé, a new hybrid wine and food consumer event is being planned for 2009.
STREET FESTIVALS
There is nothing more fun than a festival held in a downtown location. Craftproducers organized a four block “arts” festival on the pedestrian mall, the Church Street Marketplace, for four years in the early eighties to help the fledgling mall establish wide recognition as a vital center.
In a broadly ambitious venture, together with Paul Weingarten from the Lincoln Center Crafts Festival, Craftproducers assembled a showcase of American Craftsmanship at the Queens’ (New York) Festival where 2,000,000 attended in two days. One of the major challenges was coordinating security with the New York City police.
More recently, Craftproducers ran two art/craft/food/entertainment festivals on the waterfront in Burlington, Vermont and also consulted with Mayfest, a street arts festival in Bennington, Vermont.
